Actors donning the producer’s hat is not a new trend. But of late, Kollywood has witnessed many actors turning producers! Now, Vikram Prabhu is the latest entrant to join the likes of Suriya, Vishal, Karthi, Dhanush, Prabhu Deva, Arya and Atharvaa, among others.  The Arima Nambi (2014) actor launched his production house named ‘First Artist’ at the legendary Sivaji Ganesan’s house Annai Illam on Wednesday. The maiden film of the production house has been titled Neruppuda, and will have Vikram Prabhu himself playing the lead with Nikki Galrani paired opposite him. According to sources, the film will have an equal mix of action, thrill and entertainment, which is hard to classify under a genre. We also hear that the crew plans to shoot the first leg in and around Chennai from July 11. Debutante Ashok Kumar, former assistant of Lakshman, who directed Romeo Juliet (2015), will helm the project and RD Rajasekar will crank the camera, while Sean Roldon is in charge of the songs and background music. This will be the first time that Vikram Prabhu and Nikki share the screen space! One may recall that Neruppuda is the opening line of the hit song from the Rajinikanth-starrer Kabali.

Meanwhile, Vikram Prabhu awaits the releases of his films Wagah and Veera Sivaji.
