The buzz surrounding the already much-hyped historical epic movie Baahubali just got louder after its team recently released its first look, that has created ripples in the industry.

The makers have also faced flak from certain sections of the media and Twitterati for copying the poster from Hollywood movie Simon Birch, which released in 1998.

However, the unfazed Baahubali team  has continued to cash in on the hype surrounding the film, touted to be one of the most expensive films being produced in the history of Indian cinema, and has started releasing posters of the characters from the film, so as to introduce the key players in the story.

Team Baahubali released the poster of Shivudu, the film’s lead character played by Prabhas.

An excited director SS Rajamouli took to Twitter to share the news with his followers. “Relentlessly pursuing what his heart yearns: Mover of Heaven and Earth. #Shivudu #TheUnrestrained #LiveTheEpic,” tweeted Rajamouli while launching the picture.

Over the next few weeks, posters of the other characters will also be released, as they build up to the trailer launch on May 31.

The film has garnered attention in film circles across the country after popular Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar agreed to present it in Hindi.

Baahubali is a two-part period drama, the first titled Baahubali-The Beginning, is scheduled for release this July. The project, which is being handled by production house Arka Mediaworks, also features Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah.
