Army jawan, two cops injured as militants open fire in Kashmir

Two policemen and an Army jawan were injured when militants fired upon a search party of security forces in north Kashmir's Bandipora district today, police said.

SRINAGAR: Two policemen and an Army jawan were injured when militants fired upon a search party of security forces in north Kashmir's Bandipora district today, police said.     

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Wahab, Parray Mohalla in Hajin area of the district this morning after receiving specific intelligence about the presence of some militants there, a police spokesman said. He said as the forces were conducting the search operation when the militants fired upon them, resulting in injuries to two police constables Mukhtar Ahmad and Mohammad Ashraf, and Sepoy Raj Kumar.     

The injured were taken to a hospital, where doctors stated their condition to be stable, the spokesman said.
