Music director Anand Raja Vikrama will be making his mark in the Kannada industry with the film Lee starring Sumanth Shailendra and Nabha Natesh, directed by HM Srinandan.
All of 27 years old, he is a technician, who studied engineering for the sake of a degree.
“I had told my parents to let me study sound engineering, but that was a diploma course, so I ended up doing Civil,” he says.
Anand found his way into music in college with his band ‘Flee’.
This is the second venture of HM Srinandan, who debuted with Agaraja, who picked Anand, on the recommendation of an ex-college mate.
About composing music for Lee, Anand explains that it is a story that revolves around martial arts.
“Lee in particular has been a brand name, often linked to Bruce Lee and Jet Lee. Even the lead actor’s name in this film ends with Lee. When the director narrated me the story, I realised that the name Lee holds a lot of power.
Following the director’s idea, I have packed the music with power, including the romantic melody,” says the music director. Anand has used Bengali folk with Irish tunes, chill step with electronic music pattern and EDM music for his composition. A situational song has a blend of house music with western country music for Lee album. The background score of the movie is by Gurukiran.
Brought up in KGF, his music has anglo-indian influences in the movie. AR Rahman has been an inspiration to Anand since the time he listened to the maestro’s songs from Roja.
