Kalabhabhishekam and Laksharchana were performed at the Lord Ayyappa temple on the first day of the Malayalam month of Kanni on Sunday.

SABARIMALA: Kalabhabhishekam and Laksharchana were performed at the Lord Ayyappa temple on the first day of the Malayalam month of Kanni on Sunday. As part of Laksharchana, Thantri Mahesh Mohanaru performed Brahmakalasapooja in the presence of Melsanthi Unnikrishnan Nampoothiri at the Mandapam of the temple at 6 am. After the ceremony, a 10-member Vedic scholars led by the thantri and melsanthi, chanted mantras as part of the ritual. The ritual concluded with Kalasabhishekam on the idol of Lord Ayyappa during Uchcha pooja.

Kalabhabhishekam was the other special ritual performed at the temple.In connection with the ritual, the thantri performed Kalabhakalasa pooja in the presence of the melsanthi at the Mandapam of the temple at 10.30 am.

Kalabhabhishekam , marking the conclusion of the ritual, on the idol of the Lord was performed during Uchcha pooja after the procession carrying the Kalabhakalsam circumabulated the Sreekovil of the temple.
Udayasthamana pooja, Padi pooja and Pushpabhishekam were the other rituals performed at the temple on the first day of the Malayalam month of Kanni.

Sahasrakalasam on Sept 18

Sahasraakalasam will be the special ritual to be performed at the temple on the second day of the Malayalam month of Kanni on September 18. As part of the ritual, the thantri performed kalasa pooja in the presence of the melsanthi at the Sopanam on the south of the temple on Sunday afternoon.

The ritual will conclude with kalasabhishekam on the idol of the Lord during Uchcha pooja on Monday.
The temple will be closed on September 21, after Athazha pooja and Harivarasam at 10 pm.

Heavy rain

Pilgrims faced difficulties due to heavy rain that lashed Sabarimala, the trekking path and Pampa on Sunday. Hundreds of devotees, braving the rain, offered worship of Lord Ayyappa after climbing the trekking path.
