THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Solar Case has returned to haunt the Opposition Congress, with the Thiruvananthapuram Unit of the Crime Branch registering an FIR against AICC general secretary and former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and AICC general secretary and MP K C Venugopal. The FIR is based on a complaint from Solar Case accused Saritha S Nair. Both the leaders are believed to have been arraigned on sexual harassment charges.

Though Saritha had accused some of the Congress brass of rape, she is said to have received  legal counsel which said the police can act only if she lodged individual complaints against the said leaders. Following this, Saritha is said to have lodged six complaints with the Crime Branch. According to the police, four other FIRs will be registered in the coming days.

In August while giving a statement before the Kottarakkara Judicial Magisterial First Class(JMFC), Chandy  had alleged Saritha and K B Ganesh Kumar MLA had conspired to level allegations of sexual misconduct against him and other UDF leaders. Furthermore, he pointed out the original letter written by Saritha had only 21 pages and not 25 as claimed.  According to Chandy, his name, as well as those of the other UDF leaders, were added to the original letter as a result of the conspiracy.
