Theatrical adaptation of Khasakkinte Ithihasam to be staged in Kochi

KOCHI: The theatrical adaptation of O. V. Vijayan’s classic Khasakkinte Ithihasam will be staged at Sacred Heart College ground, Thevara, on April 21, 22 and 23, 2017. The play, which was performed at packed venues in Thrikkarippur, Thrissur, Kodungallur, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Thiruvanthapuram, will be held in Kochi under the aegis of Rotary Kochi United.


The play produced by Thrikkarippur KMK Kalasamithi, which has to its credit of performing several plays including ‘Poovanpazham’ of Vaikkom Muhammed Basheer. 


The drama is written and directed by Deepan Sivaraman, Associate Professor, Performing Arts, Ambedkar University, Delhi. The play is being performed using scenography with the help of installations and videos.
The theatre adaptation of the novel was first performed at Thrikkarippur in September 2015.

The cast include Rajeevan Velloor, C. K. Sunil, K. V. Krishnan Master, Vijayan Akkalath, Manoj Annoor, P. C. Gopalakrishnan, Kumar Pariyacheri, Rajesh Karyath, Vijesh Muttathu, Dr. Tharima. Sreeja, Aswathy and Balamani.

The amount collected from the sale of tickets will be used for purchasing equipments for the reconstructive surgery department of Ernakulam General Hospital, said office bearers of Rotary Kochi United.
