‘Sahityavedi’ held at Maharaja’s College

Poet and lyricist R K Damodaran inaugurated ‘Sahityavedi’, a joint platform for literature by the Arabic, English, Hindi, Malayalam and Sanskrit departments of Maharaja’s College on Wednesday.

KOCHI: Poet and lyricist R K Damodaran inaugurated ‘Sahityavedi’, a joint platform for literature by the Arabic, English, Hindi, Malayalam and Sanskrit departments of Maharaja’s College on Wednesday. Poet and radio artist Sreekumar Mukhathala delivered the keynote address. At the function, Damodaran was draped with a golden shawl as recognition of his 40 years as lyricist in Malayalam cinema. 

Poet and Head of the Malayalam Department S Joseph welcomed the gathering, while teacher in the department Sumi Joy Oliyappuram proposed a vote of thanks. Principal N Hitha presided over the function. 

MG University Syndicate member M S Murali, Head of the college’s Sanskrit Department T D Beena, head of the English Department Rohini Nair and Head of the Arabic Department Hameed offered felicitations.Sooraj Sathyan, a disciple of artist Kedamangalam Sadanadan presented the ‘Kathaprasanagam’ version of  Ramanan poem by Changampuzha Krishna Pillai.
