A pedicure is a way to improve the appearance of the feet, and their nails. It provides a similar service as a manicure.
The word pedicure comes from the Latin words ‘pes’, which means foot, and ‘cura’, which means care. It also means the care of the feet and toenails.
Materials need for Pedicure:
* Basin or tub
* Foot Soak, Epsom salt or bath salts
* Pumice footstone
* Small brush / Nail polish remover / cotton balls
* Nail polish
* Base coat for nails and Top coat for nails
* Clippers and File
* Orangewood stick (Cuticle stick)
* Lotion
* Foot scrub treatment
Whether you are in the mood to pamper yourself or just starting to get dolled up, a pedicure can be one of the most soothing and relaxing body treatments after a long day. If you find yourself surrounded by unavoidable stress factors day-to-day, wash your cares away with a pedicure!
A Simple way of Pedicure - Just follow these easy steps:
1. Remove old polish from the nails of both feet.
2. Clip the toenails of the left foot first, taking care that they are even with the end of the toe. In some cases, a small corner of the nail should be trimmed out. Trimming the corner of a toenail, if done properly, does not cause an ingrown toenail.
3. Using both hands, carefully insert toe separators between the toes of the left foot).
4. File toenails of the left foot with a new emery board, having already softened the edges. File the toenails straight across, roundi n g t h e m slightly at the corners to conform to the shape of the toes. Smooth any rough edges with the fine side of the emery board 5. Use a foot file on the ball and heel of the left foot to remove dry skin and smooth down callus growths Do not file too much, because it can cause irritation and bleeding.
6. Remove toe separators and place the left foot in warm, soapy water.
7. Repeat Steps 2 through 6 on the right foot, through soaking 8. Remove the left foot from the footbath and brush the nails with a nailbrush.
Rinse the foot in the rinse bath and dry thoroughly Insert toe separators between toes.
9. With a new cotton-tipped orangewood stick, apply cuticle solvent to the cuticle and under the free edge of each toenail of the left foot.
10. Loosen the cuticle gently with the cotton-tipped orangewood stick. Keep the cuticle moist with additional lotion or water. Do not use excessive pressure) 11.Do not cut the cuticle. Nip only large, ragged hangnails.
12. Rinse the left foot and dry it.
13. Apply cream or lotion massage the left foot and place it on a clean towel on the floor.
14. Remove traces of lotion or cream from the toenails.
Place feet in disposable paper or foam pedicure slippers for those clients who have not worn open-toed shoes.
15. Apply base coat, two coats of color, and top coat to the toenails.
Spray with instant nail dry. Place the feet on a towel to dry and apply polish to toe nails. If you notice any sudden change in the nail plate or surrounding skin, please seek the advise of a podiatrist.
Please Note
– On the day of the pedicure done, before going to bed apply moisturizer on your feet, put on socks and sleep.
