Solarin smartphone, launched by the Israeli startup Sirin Labs, which is touted as the world's costliest, is also known as a "privacy-foucssed" one, as reported by the tech website VentureBeat.

Here are some of the salient features of Solarin:

According to the website The Verge, the smartphone has a special switch at the backside which flips it into a cyber-secure mode, allowing only outgoing calls and encrypted messaging.

In fact, according to the above source, one of the company's software engineer described it's functionality as 'less than a featurephone'. The above mentioned mode can also disable various other hardware features.

This feature brings Solarin on par with Google Nexus phones and Blackberry, in terms of security settings.

The phone's processor is a Snapdragon 810, which Samsung refused to use in its 2015 handsets due to heating issues.

  • The phone's software is an Android 5.1.
  • It has a four-colour flash next to a 24-megapixel shooter with autofocus and an 8-megapixel front facing camera.
  • Solarin has a 4,000mAh battery and a 1440p IPS LCD display.
  • It has three speakers, two below the display and one above the screen.
