GWALIOR: The Director-General of the DRDO, Vijay Kumar Saraswat today said there was no truth in the Army Chief General V K Singh's charge that corruption takes place in arms deals.

"There is a system under which the deals are finalized and there is no scope for corruption in them," he said.

Addressing a press conference, Saraswat, who is also secretary to the defence ministry and science adviser to the government, said efforts for making the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) had been going on for the last 20 years and all problems relating to its making have been resolved and it will be available from next year onwards.

This should not be considered a long time as even the US had taken a total of 22 years to develop its stealth aircraft, the DRDO Director-General said.

Problems in the making of the LCA arose as carbon fibre that is used in it is not available in the country, he said.

Earlier Saraswat inaugurated a bio-chemical centre built at a cost of Rs. 300 crores.
