A woman was beaten to death allegedly by her husband and brother-in-law after she failed to fulfil their demand to bring Rs two lakh from her parents.

The victim Fatma was married to Azmat Ali 12 years back and the couple had two children. She was beaten to death yesterday at her marital house in Bhopa town.

Police said a case of murder was registered against Azmat and his brother Hasmat, who were absconding. It is alleged that they were pressurising her to bring Rs one lakh from her parents.

The victim's brother Hasan in his complaint to the police said Azmat and his brother had beaten to death his sister and that they had been demanding money for the past some time.

Police said they have sent the body for post mortem and further investigation was on.
