NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to probe the twin terror attacks in Nagrota and Samba in Jammu and Kashmir in which seven army personnel were killed.

"We are planning to hand over the investigations into the two terror attacks in Nagrota and Samba to NIA," a senior Home Ministry official said.

Seven army personnel, including two Major-rank officers, were killed and eight other securitymen, including a BSF DIG, were injured in the these attacks.

Six heavily-armed terrorists were also eliminated in the two separate fierce encounters on November 29.

Officials said the terrorists were a fresh batch of infiltrated group who attacked an Army station in Nagrota and a BSF post in Samba.

NIA, which was formed in 2008, functions as the country's central counter-terrorism law enforcement agency.
