Security forces seize 18 kg charas on Nepal border

NEW DELHI: The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) seized 18 kg charas worth `5 crore from the Indo-Nepal border and apprehended a Nepalese citizen. The seizure is part of an ongoing drive against narcotics smugglers active along the Indo-Nepal border.

“SSB troopers of 44th Battalion, Narkatiaganj, Bihar seized 18 kg of charas on sunday and apprehended Anil Fodar, resident of village Sakhwaniya of Parsa district of Nepal. A motorcycle was also intercepted and the contraband was seized,” said the SSB.

On another occasion, the SSB had seized 15.5 kg of the contraband from the frontier in the intervening night of October 25/26. The modus operandi in both cases was similar—the drug was concealed in a motorcycle. Earlier on October 11 and October 19, the paramilitary force had seized 8 kg and 12 kg of charas respectively and apprehended two persons.The SSB is also running a drive against human traffickers on the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders.
