The Congress party has given adjournment motion notice in Rajya Sabha under rule 267 on PM Modi's remarks against Dr Manmohan Singh. The opposition has been demanding an apology from the prime minister Modi over his remark on Pakistan interference in Gujarat polls.
During the last phase of electioneering in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, quoting media reports, on December 10, said former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, former Vice-President Hamid Ansari, former Army General Deepak Kapoor had secretly discussed Gujarat elections with ex-Pakistani diplomats at Mani Shankar Aiyar’s residence in Delhi. The allegation has sparked a political furore.
Since then, Congress has been seeking clarification from Narendra Modi on allegations against his predecessor which disrupted the Rajya Sabha proceedings for the third consecutive day on Thursday.
The proceedings were stalled after the Congress and other opposition members created uproar, demanding that the prime minister comes to the House and clarifies his remarks against Singh.
