NEW DELHI: A day after chief minister Mamata Banerjee and governor Keshari Nath Tripathi got into a collision course over the communal flare-up and arson following an objectionable Facebook post by a student in West Bengal, the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday came out in support of the Trinamool Congress government and called for opposition unity to fight the “communal BJP” before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
“The governor of West Bengal broke all democratic norms. This is an attempt by the Centre to destabilise a non-BJP ruled state government. The AAP also faces such hostile situations in Delhi. Hence, it is time for all opposition parties to get together and fight the fascist rule of the BJP at the Centre,” AAP leader Ashutosh said.
The party also condemned the entry of three BJP members in the Puducherry assembly by the Governor Kiran Bedi.
"I think Kiran Bedi has forgotten the tremendous defeat she faced in Delhi. She is holding a constitutional position but acting like a BJP member. Earlier if any such appointments are made it is in consultation with the Chief Minister" Ashutosh added further.
Both the Chief Ministers Mamta Banarjee and Arvind Kejriwal have met earlier while protesting against the demonetisation scheme implemented by the central government. Earlier Banarjee came to the national capital and addressed a public rally Delhi's Azadpur whole sale market.
The BJP is a “threat to democracy”, he added.
Earlier three members of BJP including the local unit president V. Sati Nathan were inducted into the state assembly.
