MUMBAI: Lone JD(U) member in Maharashtra Legislative Council Kapil Patil today expressed "surprise"over the "haste" shown by the party president Nitish Kumar in joining hands with the BJP in Bihar by dumping the party ally Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

He said Nitish's move has not gone down well with Socialists and that the matter will be raised in the national executive committee meeting of the JD(U), scheduled on August 19.

"I had merged my party Lok Bharti into JD (U) because I appreciated his (Nitish's) stance of corruption-free administration and keeping away the RSS-backed political front from power. Everybody was looking at Nitish Kumar as an alternative to the politics of hate," Patil told reporters.

He said he was surprised at Nitish's haste to join hands with the saffron party.

"The socialist activists did not like this. We are hurt and we will raise the matter in the forthcoming national executive committee of the JD(U). I have already communicated my views to our New Delhi office," Patil added.
