NEW DELHI: Amidst rising tension at the Line of Control with Pakistan after beheading of two Indian soldiers in Poonch sector last week, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has indicated a possible retaliation from the Indian side.

Speaking on the sidelines of an event in Delhi, Army chief said that army is taking measures to beef up counter-infiltration posture to take care of the situation. While saying that Army does not reveal plans before executing them, Army chief said "We do not talk about future plans beforehand. We share details after execution of the plan."

Avoiding giving a direct reply on whether the army will respond to the brutal and unsoldierly act of Pakistan army, General Rawat said the armed forces effectively respond to such actions by the neighbouring country.

"When this kind of action takes place, we also carry out retaliatory action".

He also said that militants are going to attempt infiltration with the arrival of the summer month.

Explaining about army’s combing operation, biggest in the last one decade, Army chief said action is to make sure that situation is brought under control, post recent incidents.

Army has already made it clear that it will respond to the dastardly act at "a time and place of its choosing". Even the defence Minister Arun Jaitley had said the "sacrifice (of the two soldiers) will not go in vain" and the Indian armed forces will react "appropriately" to the "inhuman act" of the Pakistani troops.
