PATNA: The daring murder of dreaded gangster Babloo Dubey on the premises of a crowded court in Bihar was perpetrated by two minor inmates of a remand home who had escaped, investigations by police have found out. Police arrested one minor and another two persons involved in planning the murder on Monday.

“One minor boy has been arrested and a hunt is on for the other. The two boys were hired by some rivals of Dubey, who are lodged in the same jail as the murdered gangster,” said Vinay Kumar, SP, West Champaran.

Dubey, who faced as many as 36 murder cases and was allegedly running a crime network in northern Bihar and Nepal, was shot dead on the premises of the additional chief judicial magistrate’s court in Bettiah, the headquarters town of West Champaran district, on May 11 morning.

Policemen escorting him had said two unidentified assailants pumped five bullets on his chest and escaped taking advantage of the large crowd on the court campus. Dubey was brought to the court from Bettiah jail, where he had been lodged, for an appearance in a murder case.

The two minor boys were lodged at a remand home in Motihari, the headquarters town of neighbouring East Champaran district 45 km away, said police.

“They travelled to Bettiah, committed the murder in broad daylight and returned to remand home the same day,” said an official.
