Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's condition stable, will remain in hospital till infection is controlled

The veteran BJP leader, who has been out of public life since a decade due to health reasons, was taken to AIIMS, Delhi on Monday and is in intensive-care unit.

NEW DELHI: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is going through a host of medical tests and diagnoses and will be in the hospital till his urinary tract infection is controlled, doctors at All India Institute of Medical Science said on Tuesday.

The veteran BJP leader, who has been out of public life since a decade due to health reasons, was taken to AIIMS, Delhi on Monday and is in intensive-care unit.

PM Narendra Modi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and a number of Union ministers and several other BJP leaders had visited him in the hospital.

A medical bulletin released by the hospital on Tuesday afternoon said that the 93-year-old is "stable and on injectable antibiotics".

The hospital also said that the former PM was being attended by a team of senior doctors.
