NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday said the CVC inquiry on allegations and counter-allegations in the ongoing feud between CBI Director Alok Verma and Special Director Rakesh Asthana should be completed in two weeks under the supervision of the court.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi asked retired apex court Judge Justice A K Patnaik to supervise the inquiry and submit the report in a sealed cover. The bench will examine the report and decide the next course of action.

During the hearing, CVC pleaded that two weeks for CBI enquiry is not enough as it has to look into several documents. However, the bench refused to grant more time and slated the hearing for November 12.

The court also ruled that N Nageswara Rao, who was appointed as the interim director by the Centre, will not take any major policy decisions. Rao was further directed to submit all the decisions, taken by him ever since his appointment to it in a sealed cover.

In a separate development, CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana also moved the Supreme Court challenging the decision of the Centre to divest him of his duties and send him on leave. But his petition was not heard on Friday and will be entertained in due course.
