KURNOOL/VIJAYAWADA: Former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu announced that the elections in 2024 would be his last, if he is not elected to power.“If justice is to be done to the State, you have to ensure my victory in the next election or else it would be my last election,’’ he asserted at a well-attended roadshow conducted in Pattikonda, Kurnool district late Wednesday night.
On the first day of his tour in Kurnool, which began on Wednesday, Naidu spoke at various roadshows from Kurnool to Pathikonda. Naidu minced no words in attacking the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government during the meetings.
However, at his last meeting in Pattikonda, Naidu accused the ruling YSRC of turning the State Assembly into a ‘Kourava Sabha’ and emotionally recalled how he was insulted. “Even my wife was insulted and I had vowed not to step into the Assembly till the TDP returned to power.”
Asserting that only he is capable of developing Andhra Pradesh like he did with Hyderabad, Naidu reiterated, “If I have to go back to the Assembly, if I have to stay in politics and if justice is to be ensured to the State, the people should ensure my victory in the next election. If not, it could be my last election.”
“I am physically very fit,” the 72-year-old leader said in response to the criticism he has been receiving over his age.“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and I are of the same age,” he pointed out and also mentioned that Joe Biden became President of the United States of America at the age of 79.
