NEW DELHI: India and Pakistan have extended the closure of their respective airspace for each other until July 24 at 5:29 am. The current closure was due to expire on the morning of June 24.
An official from the Civil Aviation Ministry confirmed on Monday night, “India has also decided to close its airspace for Pakistan until July 24 at 5:29 am. The decision was taken just now. We have not issued any official statement as of yet.”
Earlier on Monday evening, Pakistan had announced a similar extension, continuing its airspace ban on Indian flights until the same date and time.
A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by Pakistan stated: “Pakistan airspace not available for Indian registered aircraft and aircraft operated/owned or leased by Indian airline operators, including military aircraft.”
This marks two months since both nations imposed reciprocal airspace restrictions following the April 22 terror attacks in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which left 26 people dead.
