MUMBAI: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar on Saturday said that she has assumed public responsibility with a strong sense of duty and is committed to carrying forward the people-centric legacy of her late husband Ajit Pawar, killed in a plane crash at Baramati Airport, for the welfare of the state.

Recalling her husband lifelong work for farmers, labourers, women, youth and marginalised sections, she said she would continue to draw inspiration from his thoughts while remaining anchored to the ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Shahu Maharaj, Mahatma Phule and Dr B R Ambedkar.

She said Ajit Dada’s untimely demise has caused deep personal grief and left the entire state in mourning. She added that his discipline, resilience in adversity and unwavering commitment to the people would continue to guide her public life. Pawar said she would work with honesty, transparency and a people-first approach to realise his vision of a just, inclusive and developed Maharashtra.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the love, trust and support shown by the people of Maharashtra during this difficult period have been her greatest source of strength. With renewed hope and energy, she said she would move forward by keeping Ajit Dada’s ideals alive. Ensuring effective implementation of government schemes for farmers’ welfare, expanding opportunities for youth, empowering women and improving the quality of life of ordinary citizens would remain her top priorities.

Pawar said the state government would work to strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and remain committed to Maharashtra’s all-round development under the guidance of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. She also reaffirmed her commitment to carrying forward the legacy of Yashwantrao Chavan, regarded as the architect of modern Maharashtra.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and in coordination with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, she said she would strive for holistic development, social justice, economic growth and inclusive prosperity in the state. Meeting people’s expectations, making governance more sensitive and people-centric, and taking Maharashtra to new heights of development would remain her firm resolve.

Expressing gratitude to the people of Maharashtra and her colleagues, Pawar said she would work to the best of her abilities to live up to the trust placed in her by leaders and workers of the Nationalist Congress Party.
