AIPH University, Odisha Bill passed

The Odisha Assembly, on Thursday, passed two bills including the AIPH University, Odisha Bill, 2017 for establishment of a private unitary university on public health.

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Assembly, on Thursday, passed two bills including the AIPH University, Odisha Bill, 2017 for establishment of a private unitary university on public health.

Introducing the Bill, Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena said the proposed university will provide a platform for higher education in public health and research facility for finding solution to local health problems.

The university will offer courses which are not available in other universities of the State.Apart from opening up employment opportunities, the university will provide opportunity to doctors for acquiring public health education of higher grade. “It is felt expedient to establish and incorporate a unitary university which will facilitate achieving excellence in the field of public health and research,” he said.

Another bill to repeal the Odisha Forest Development (Tax on Sale of Forest Produce by Government or Odisha Forest Development Corporation) Act, 2003 was also passed.
