BHUBANESWAR: A six-member Central team of the BJP, comprising two members of Parliament, is coming on a four-day visit to the State beginning Friday to assess the situation arising out of crop loss due to pest attack.

In view of the rising number farmers’ suicide due to crop loss, BJP president Amit Shah is sending the team to visit the pest-affected areas and hold discussions with farmers. Apart from reviewing the crop loss status, the team members will find out if all the welfare measures taken by the Central Government are reaching the farmers, state general secretary of BJP Krushak Morcha Surath Biswal said.

The team comprising MPs Savitri Thakur and Om Prakash Yadav, Kisan Morcha national general secretary P Sugunakar Rao, national vice-president Maheshwar Sahu, national secretary Sambhu Kumar and Andhra Pradesh BJP Kisan Morcha president PT Rao will visit Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Ganjam and Nayagarh districts.

The team will be assisted by State Krushak Morcha president Sibaji Mohanty, general secretary Samir Patra, Chotell Mahant and Biswal. The Central team will submit its report to Shah through national Kisan Morcha president Virendra Singh, MP.
