BHUBANESWAR: Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) will get a facelift soon. The health facility will have a 100-bed Maternal and Child Health (MCH) building and tele-radiology services. This was decided at a high-level meeting chaired by Health Minister Pratap Jena at the Secretariat here on Tuesday. The DHH will be upgraded and facilities like high-end pathology, dialysis and chemotherapy will be made available, the meeting decided.

The decision was taken following a recent surprise visit of the Minister to the hospital. Jena had expressed displeasure on the quality of services provided at the DHH and asked the authorities concerned to initiate immediate steps to provide required health services so that patients prefer the hospital over private clinics.
Directing the officials to strengthen monitoring system, he warned to initiate disciplinary action against those who are found neglecting duty and indulging in corrupt practices.

The Minister has instructed to provide free of cost medicines to all patients under Niramaya scheme. All doctors and paramedical staff have been asked to be punctual and render selfless duty. Among others, Director of National Health Mission (NHM) Shalini Pandit, Special Health Secretaries Dr KC Dash, Dr BK Mishra and Health Director BK Brahma and Jagatsinghpur Collector Yamini Sarangi were present.
