Buenos Aires, Nov 23 (AFP) An unusual noise heard in theocean near the last known position of the San Juan submarinewas "consistent with an explosion," Argentina's navy announcedtoday.

"An anomalous, singular, short, violent and non-nuclearevent consistent with an explosion," occurred shortly afterthe last communication of the San Juan and its 44 crew, navyspokesman Captain Enrique Baldi told a news conference inBuenos Aires. (AFP)KIS.
