MUMBAI: The Aamby Valley Golf course situated 2,700 feet above sea level on the Sahyadri ranges near Lonavala has been selected as one of the world's top golf courses.

The 7,087-yard long course, designed by David Hemstock Associates (UK) and upgraded and remodelled for championship by PGA DC of Britain and Ireland, has been chosen as "The Rolex World's top 1000 Golf Courses", a media release said here on Monday.

Aamby Valley CEO Vivek Kumar said it was a great honour to get this recognition.

"It is an absolute honour to be selected as one of the top 1000 Golf courses in the world; it is a very satisfying feeling, when one puts immense efforts to create the best and receives recognition for the same," he said.

The course is fully floodlit and its unique feature is the different character between the holes in the front 9, which have a series of valleys crossing the course, and the back 9 holes, which are interspersed with water bodies, the release added.
