Fit-again Malinga to Lead Lanka in Asia Cup, World T20

The Asia Cup is slated to be held in Bangladesh from February 24 followed by the T20 pinnacle event in India, starting from March 8.

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka skipper Lasith Malinga, who missed the New Zealand series due to injury, has been named as the skipper of the 15-man squad announced for the upcoming Asia Cup and the World Twenty20 in India.

Besides Malinga, vice-captain Angelo Mathews has recovered from groin injury and will feature in both the events alongside veteran left-arm spinner Rangana Herath and seamer Nuwan Kulasekara,ESPNcricinfo reported.

Sri Lanka, however, dumped rookie seamer Kasun Rajitha despite his brilliant display during his side’s five-wicket win against India in the opening ODI of the recently-concluded three-match series, which the hosts went on to win by 2-1.
