India have won the T20I series against Australia 2-1 after the fifth match at the Gabba in Brisbane was called off due to heavy rain.

Before the delay, India had reached 52/0 in 4.5 overs, with openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill giving the visitors a flying start. Sharma became the fastest batter to reach 1,000 T20I runs in terms of balls faced, despite receiving two lifelines as Australia put down two sitters. At the other end, Gill was in scintillating form, hitting four boundaries in a single over.

Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl first, citing favorable conditions for his bowlers. He said both teams had played well in the series and expressed hope to finish on a high. Reflecting on the previous game, Marsh admitted Australia could have chased better and confirmed he would field the same XI.

India made one change, resting Tilak Varma and bringing in Rinku Singh. With a 2-1 lead in the five-match series, India have extended their 17-year streak of remaining unbeaten in T20I series in Australia.
