LONDON: Wigan Athletic became the latest club in English football's second-tier Championship to sack their manager as Warren Joyce exited Monday after just four months in charge.

Friday saw Norwich City dismiss Alex Neil and Derby County followed suit in dispensing with former England manager Steve McClaren's services on Sunday.

Now Joyce has been axed, with northwest side Wigan four points adrift of safety and only nine games left in which to beat the drop.
