HYDERABAD: Telugu actor Vijayasanthi on Saturday merged her Talli Telangana Party with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti.
She called on TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao at his residence here and took membership of the party. She then announced the merger of her party with the TRS.
Welcoming her into the TRS, Chandrasekhar Rao said both Vijayasanthi and his party were working for the same cause-- securing statehood for Telangana region.
"Our objectives are the same and our movement is also one. So, working together gives more strength to the cause," Chandrasekhar Rao said.
Terming Vijayasanthi as "my sister," he said she would be given a crucial role in the TRS.
On her part, Vijayasanthi promised to strive for achieving statehood for Telangana.
The Telugu heroine of yesteryears, Vijayasanthi sailed with the BJP for many years before quitting it to launch the Talli Telangana Party in 2006.
She, however, failed to build her organisation in the last two years and was in talks with the TRS leadership for over two months now.
