HYDERABAD: Veteran film actor Kantha Rao (85) died of prolonged illness in a city hospital today night. He was suffering from cancer for the past few years.
Kantha Rao breathed his last at around 11 p.m, a spokesperson of Yashoda hospitals, Somajiguda said.
Kantha Rao was a contemporary of Telugu film industry legends like late N T Rama Rao and Akkineni Nageshwara Rao. He was known for his roles in mythological films. He acted in more than 400 films and his last film was Balakrishna starrer Pandurangadu.
Several film personalities and political leaders including Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi expressed their condolences over the death of Kantha Rao.
