BJP new national general secretary hails from Karimnagar

Polsani Muralidhar Rao who hails from Karimnagar district, was appointed national general secretary for BJP, Rajnath Singh party president announced on Sunday.

Rao is the second man to bag the post from the state. In past,  BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu worked as the general secretary for BJP.

48-year-old Rao was born in a farmers’ family at Korapalli village in Jammikkunta mandal. He completed his graduation from Warangal. Then, he moved to Hyderabad and completed his M.A and M.Phil in Philosophy from Osmania University.

Earlier, he worked with ABVP closely during his student life. He worked for ABVP in Jammu and Kashmir in 1991.

He joined BJP in 2009 and became a close ally of Rajnath Singh. In 2010, he was made the national secretary by then BJP president Nitin Gadkari.

Since the last three years, he has been working as state incharge in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Meanwhile, for 16 years he worked as national convener of Swadeshi Jagaran Manch.
