HYDERABAD: Days after he had announced that he would very soon begin making Vijayawada, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, his home, AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has started making efforts to construct a new house, not at Vijayawada but in Hyderabad.

According to sources, Naidu is planning to demolish his residence at Jubilee Hills here to construct a bigger one for his family, which is growing.

“Naidu has been living in the present house for about 30 years. As the house has only two bedrooms and a hall, besides an office room, the CM is planning to reconstruct the house to suit his growing needs,” said the source.

In fact, Naidu had given a makerover to his present residence, spread over 6,000 sq ft, in accordance with Vastu and Feng-Shui as per the advice of astrologers when his party had unsuccessfully contested the 2009 general polls.

However, sources disclosed that the AP CM is finding it difficult to hold meetings with officials in the small house. Apart from this, Naidu’s daughter-in-law is expecting a child very soon.

In view of the growing needs, the chief minister has almost decided to reconstruct his house. “The present house will be demolished and the construction of a new structure will begin in December,” said a TDP leader, who close to the AP CM’s family.

Naidu is planning to shift either to the Lake View Guest House here or a farmhouse in the city till the construction is over.

According to sources, Naidu’s son Lokesh along with wife Brahmini visited the Lake View Guest House on Sunday to see if it suits the needs of their family.

Naidu, who had several times sent out feelers that he had decided to stay in Vijayawada at least for three days in a week to run the government, appears to be not ready to relocate his family to the new capital of AP for now as his party has considerable foothold in Telangana. In fact, while attending the Alai Balai programme organised by BJP MP Bandaru Dattatreya at Jala Vihar here on Sunday, the AP CM disclosed his desire to continue to operate from Hyderabad in future too.

He said he has been staying in Hyderabad for about 30 years and would continue to stay here as he has to look after the interests of the TDP in the new state as the party boss.
