Bapu's Birth Anniversary Fete for Five Days

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government is conducting the 83rd birth anniversary celebrations of legendary filmmaker and cartoonist the late Sattiraju Lakshmi Narayana, popularly known as Bapu, from December 11 to 15 at Narasapuram in West Godavari district. The State government sanctioned Rs 15 lakh for the conduct of the event.

Bapu, who was born on December 15, 1933, was also an acclaimed artist, painter and illustrator. He had passed away in Chennai in August 2014. Bapu had begun his career as a director in 1967 with ‘Sakshi’, which was then screened in international film festivals.

He went on to direct about 50 films in his career. His last film was ‘Sriramarajyam’ in 2011, which had actors Balakrishna and Nayanatara in the lead.
