GUNTUR: APSRTC will operate 800 special buses for the mega religious fete ‘Maha Sivaratri’ at Sri Trikoteswara Swamy temple atop Kotappakonda on March 7.

During a meeting with officials, here on Tuesday, APSRTC Vijayawada Zone Executive Director SV Rao instructed the RTC officials to prepare an action plan to provide the required number of buses and ferry the devotees to Kotappakonda.

As lakhs of devotees from various parts of the State as well as from the neighbouring Telangana are expected to attend the `Kotappakonda Tirunallu’ being celebrated at the temple, the APSRTC management decided to operate the buses drawn from various depots of the district. Guntur Regional Manager G Srihari said that they will enhance the number of buses as per the demand of passengers.

As there is every scope for devotees in large number preferring to return to their destinations from the early hours of March 8, after the completion of the Tirunallu, he asked the camp in-charges to ensure availability of adequate number of buses down the hill at that time.

Meanwhile, the district administration including endowment, revenue and police departments are gearing up for the successful conduct of the mega event.
