VISAKHAPATNAM: An unknown body recovered by the Malkangiri police of Odisha from the Balimela reservoir near the Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB) on Tuesday created a flutter, with the rumours flying thick and fast that the body was of Maoist top gun Ramakrishna. But, later the Odisha police clarified that the body was of Bidasi Nayak (54), a resident from Chitrakonda region.  According to sources, the locals after noticing the body floating in the reservoir informed the police.

Initially, rumours spread that it was the body of  Maoist top gun Ramakrishna alias RK, then there were also rumours that he could be another Maoist who died in the recently held  encounter.

However, the Odisha police sent information to their Andhra counterparts that the body belonged to one Bidasi Nayak.  “Bidasi had been missing since the last three days and the Odisha police suspect that he might have committed suicide. The body has been shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem,” a police representative told Express.
