Andhra Pradesh: Mobile phone manufacturers seek tax cut

VIJAYAWADA: Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has promised to address problems being raised by the mobile phone companies.During a meeting with the Cellular Association Apex Committee (CAAC) in Velagapudi on Friday, Yanamala said the State government is giving priority to industrial development. As the mobile manufacturing companies are generating more employment, the government would provide them incentives, he said.

Stating that the manufacturers were facing tax burden, CAAC national president Pankaj Mohindroo and other members of the delegation sought reduction in GST rate and other taxes on mobile phones. The Finance Minister said a decision on reduction of State taxes would be taken after he discussed the issue with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board Chief Executive Officer J Krishna Kishore, Commercial Tax Commissioner J Syamala Rao and others were present.
