GUNTUR: Explaining the importance of organ donation, State Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao  has urged citizens to pledge their organs. Citing an example, he said family members of Anjaneyulu of Krosuru mandal in Guntur district, who was recently declared brain-dead, donated his organs on Saturday. 
Speaking at a recent event, he said Anjaneyulu, who worked as lorry driver, fell ill due to high blood pressure. His condition deteriorated and fell into a comatose state, he added. 

He praised the deceased’s family for taking the noble decision, which gave lease of life to many in need. 
Anjaneyulu was first admitted into Guntur Government Hospital and later shifted to a different hospital for better treatment. Though doctor tried their best, his condition worsened and was declared brain dead later. 
Dr Sivaramakrishna and other officials had counselled the family members for organ donation. Siva Prasad Rao and MLC Annam Sateesh Prabhakar interacted with the family members and praised their noble gesture.
