VIJAYAWADA: Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav announced that the coalition government has launched a major initiative to strengthen medical infrastructure and educational facilities across AP with an estimated outlay of Rs 221.67 crore.
The Andhra Pradesh Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMSIDC) has officially floated tenders via the e-procurement portal for 12 major projects, comprising 10 AYUSH division works and two Allopathy medical projects.
Under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM), six 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospitals will be established at key locations, including Tekkali in Srikakulam district (Rs 9.98 crore), Rampachodavaram in Polavaram district (Rs 10.57 crore), Nandigama in NTR district (Rs 10.52 crore), Tenali in Guntur district (Rs 10.50 crore), Giddalur in Markapuram district (Rs 10.58 crore), and Tirupati (Rs 9.99 crore).
The State is constructing two new government colleges—a Government Unani Medical College at Proddatur in Kadapa district at an estimated cost of Rs 49 crore, and a Government Ayurvedic Medical College at Dharmavaram in Sri Sathya Sai district for Rs 49 crore.
Additionally, infrastructure upgrades at the VIMS campus in Vizag include constructing a first floor above ground floor for Government Naturopathy and Yoga College at Rs 9.37 crore, alongside an additional third-floor clinical facility expansion for the 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospital at Rs 3.04 crore.
The State is allocating Rs 21.99 crore to upgrade the 50-bed Community Health Centre (CHC) at Chintoor into a 100-bed Area Hospital. Furthermore, a modern Outpatient Department (OPD) block will be constructed at the Kakinada GGH with Rs 27.13 crore.
Satya Kumar reaffirmed that these targeted investments will significantly enhance secondary and tertiary healthcare delivery alongside AYUSH.
