VIJAYAWADA: MA&UD Minister Ponguru Narayana has firmly dismissed claims of a widespread diarrhoea outbreak in Vuyyuru as false propaganda, assuring the public that preliminary laboratory tests of drinking water samples showed no bacterial contamination.

Accompanied by Penamaluru MLA Bode Prasad, former MLC Babu Rajendra Prasad, and Joint Collector Naveen, the Minister visited the government hospital in Vuyyuru to interact with individuals admitted with symptoms of diarrhea and conducted a ground inspection of the affected localities in Ward 5 to address residents’ concerns directly.

Narayana stated that 11 individuals from Vuyyuru and its surrounding villages were admitted to the hospital after suffering from diarrhoea, with only six belonging to the Vuyyuru municipality jurisdiction. Currently, nine patients are receiving treatment, and their condition is stable.

He clarified that a patient admitted on August 17 passed away due to pre-existing cardiac complications, confirming that the fatality was entirely unrelated to diarrhoea cases.

The Minister announced that new pipeline works worth Rs 98 crore are underway under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme to replace dilapidated lines. He urged citizens to report any symptom.
