VIJAYAWADA: Civil society group Praja Arogya Vedika (PAV) has extended its full solidarity to the ongoing strike by the AP Junior Doctors Association (APJUDA), appealing to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for immediate personal intervention.
PAV State President MV Ramanaiah and General Secretary T Kameswara Rao met striking junior doctors, super-speciality postgraduates, and senior residents at Siddhartha Medical College in Vijayawada to back their key demands. These include a 30 per cent stipend hike, security for on-duty medical personnel, and the timely, monthly disbursement of stipends.
In a formal letter addressed to the Chief Minister, the leadership urged the state government to immediately invite a delegation of striking doctors for discussions to resolve the impasse without further confrontation. Expressing deep concern over the disruption of medical services, PAV highlighted that poor patients relying on government teaching hospitals have faced severe hardships due to 13-day strike.
Terming the demands fully justified, the PAV urged the administration not to stand on prestige and to act swiftly before public support for the agitation intensifies.
