KAKINADA: An inquiry is currently underway on the clashes that took place between the nursing students from Andhra Pradesh and North Eastern states, said Dr A Vishnu Vardhan, Director of Medical Education (DME).
Dr. Vishnu Vardhan on Sunday stated that after the inquiry is completed, the findings will be submitted to the government for further action.
As per the instructions of the DME, Professor K. Susila, Registrar of the AP Nurses and Midwives Council, along with other officials, visited the nursing schools and colleges in Kakinada on Sunday to probe the clash of nursing students at the hostel.
The nursing school also facing other allegations of irregularities. A student from Manipur has written an e-mail to leaders and officials in Manipur alleging that the college management is intentionally withholding their certificates.
Kakinada District Superintendent of Police Bindu Madhav visited the SK School of Nursing on Sunday to inquire into violent clashes between nursing students from Manipur, Nagaland and Andhra Pradesh that had disrupted campus life for three days.
After visiting the RK and SK Nursing schools, SP Bindu Madhav said two women sub-inspectors are available 24 hours a day to assist nursing students.
He suggested that if any issue arises, the students can contact the sub-inspectors.Most students leave the nursing institutes after exams. They are now arriving to collect their certificates. Meanwhile, there is an issue with the issuance of certificates, causing difficulties for students who need to stay longer.
In this situation, a Manipur student’s mobile phone was stolen by a local student.
The student inquired with local students but failed to recover her mobile phone. Therefore, the student and her batchmates lodged a complaint at the Sarpavaram police station in Kakinada three days ago. Since then, conflict and tension prevailed in the hostel resulting in clash.
On the orders of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Kakinada District Collector Harendhira Prasad and SP Bindu Madhav visited the campus.
