KAKINADA: Two youths drowned and two others were rescued after a strong wave swept them into the sea at NTR Beach here on Sunday. Authorities recovered the bodies of Padala Yuvakishore, 20, and Anasuri Veerababu, 21, on Monday.
According to Thimmapuram police, Veerababu, a private electrician, and his twin brother Sri Ganesh Sairam, a third-year BTech student, were residents of Cheedia village. Yuvakishore and his friend Kada Aditya Venkata Sandeep Kumar, both second-year Intermediate students from Indrapalem village, had gone to the beach during the holiday.
The four youths moved away from the crowded area to take a dip in the sea when a large wave swept them further into the water. Local fishermen noticed them struggling and rescued Sairam and Sandeep Kumar. They shifted the two to the Government General Hospital in Kakinada for treatment.
Yuvakishore and Veerababu remained missing until late Sunday night. On the directions of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Kakinada Rural MLA Pantham Venkateswara Rao (Nanaji), along with Thimmapuram police, Marine police and revenue officials, continued the search on Monday and recovered the bodies.
Pawan Kalyan directed officials to provide financial aid to the bereaved families.
