CHITRADURGA: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa's quick visit to the rainaffected areas in Chitradurga taluk disappointed the victims as he did not spend much time with them to hear their grievances.

According to sources, it was just a cursory visit from a distance. Yeddyurappa visited Mallapura village on the outskirts of the city at 4.10 pm, accompanied by Basavaraj Bommai, Minister for Water Resources, G M Siddesh, Davangere MP, M Chandrappa, Holalkere MLA, S K Basavarajan, Chitradurga MLA, Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas and tahsildar Kumaraswamy.

The victims who had been waiting for the arrival of the chief minister hoping to share their grievances were not allowed to meet their leader as he was surrounded by policemen. Apart from this, the rope held by the commandos kept the leader and people apart.

Later, Yeddyurappa went to Sri Murugha Rajendra Mutt after a brief halt at M K Hatti, the worstaffected area. Interestingly, he did not even visit a single house in the region. He just saw the affected area from a distance and left. People of the layout cursed their fate as Yeddyurappa failed to pacify the victims.

Around 6 pm, he left for Sanehalli Mutt to participate in the valedictory ceremony of a drama festival.
