The body of an 18-year-old student who was kidnapped on December 12 was found in a decomposed state in Varuna Canal near Jaipura, on Wednesday. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh.

Police said the kidnappers frequently changed their places and had threatened to kill the boy if the police or media were informed. The kidnappers called Tararam from Sanjay’s cell phone but never allowed him to talk to his son. The parents where asked to come to Gundlupet, Nanjangud, Chamarajanagar, Chennai and Tirupathi with the randsom. Tararam received the last call at 7.30 pm on Tuesday. Police suspect that the kidnappers were known to the victim and had murdered him four to five days ago, fearing being caught.
