Express News Service

A man allegedly murdered his daughter-in-law’s brother near Nandikoor cross on the outskirts of the city on Saturday.

On Sunday morning, Anand Guttedar filed a complaint at the Fartabad police station alleging that Shettappa Melkundi, his sister Roopa’s father-in-law, had killed his brother Shankar.

Anand said that Roopa had got married to Yallappa Melkundi against the wishes of Shetteppa six months ago, as Yallappa was already married and has two children. Anand alleged that on Friday, his other sister Nagamma had heard Shetteppa’s discussions with somebody stating that he was ready to pay Rs 1 lakh if Shankar and Anand were murdered.

On Saturday evening, when Shankar was returning to Sirnoor village from Gulbarga on a motorbike, Shetteppa and others attacked him with lethal weapons killing him on the spot, he alleged.
