BALLARI : Right to Information Activist (RTI) Rajashekhar Mulali, who has been blamed for releasing the video footage of former minister H Y Meti’s alleged sexcapade to the media, on Wednesday claimed he is unaware how it was leaked to the media. He also said that he does not have the video in his possession.
Speaking to Express over the phone from New Delhi, he said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself might have leaked the video to the media as he was fed up of defending Meti and if the video was leaked, it would be easy for him to drop Meti from his council of ministers.
“I also suspect that Meti’s aides might have released the video to the media,” he alleged.
The activist had earlier alleged that four unidentified people, claiming to be supporters of Meti, had threatened him of dire consequences if he released the video.
However, he told them that he has seen the video but does not have it in his possession.
On Tuesday, he went to New Delhi to meet the Congress high command, but in vain.
After Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president G Parameshwara allegedly denied him an appointment in Bengaluru, the activist flew to New Delhi to meet All India Congress Committee (AICC) leaders.
“Some people are alleging that I have leaked the video to media. How can I do it when I don’t have it? Rajashekhar said. "I’m lodging a complaint with the Delhi police to take action against those who are accusing me of leaking the video,” he added.
The activist also expressed happiness over Meti’s resignation and said that the leak might have delayed his appointment with the AICC leaders.
“I’m still waiting for the appointment with AICC leaders here,” he said.Rajashekhar also said that he will meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday to seek protection for him and his family, and complain against the state government for tapping his phone calls and tracking his movements.
“I left Bengaluru on Tuesday night to reach New Delhi after I faced life threats. I will request Singh to provide me security,” he added.
